METRO Career Day 2019

  • NYU Wasserman Center 133 East 13th Street New York, NY, 10003 United States (map)

Please join us for Career Day! Mark your calendars for March 1st, 2019, beginning at 9 AM! METRO has a great line-up of panelists that will explore and discuss major career options available to I/O and OD professionals, students, and those looking to make career transitions. Join us to hear early career and senior practitioners discuss the knowledge, skills, abilities, and characteristics that employers are seeking, and how to gain the upper hand in your job search.

The program will include panels from internal practitioners and academics, external practitioners, and young professionals. You will also have the opportunity to talk with experts and colleagues directly about issues in your career development. This year our exciting group of panelists will include applied psychologists (MA's and Ph.D.'s) from a variety of industries and work environments.

Our esteemed group of panelists come from organizations including:

  • J.M. Ward Consulting

  • WeWork

  • PepsiCo

  • DDI

  • Northwell Health

  • Colgate

  • August Consulting

  • CITI

  • Hofstra University

  • McKinsey & Company

  • Talent Metrics

  • KPMG

  • Goldman Sachs

  • Catalano Group

The program will conclude with a general networking session where you'll have an additional opportunity to talk with experienced I/O and OD professionals.

Some of the issues and questions the panels will address are:

  • A close-up explanation of the differences between the internal and external consultant role.

  • What shifts in perspective do we need to make given the current work environment?

  • What technical and non-technical resources are available for help in the job search?

  • How can I provide added value or distinguish myself from everyone else?

  • Some perspectives on how careers progress.

  • What do employers want to see on my resume?

  • Current trends in job markets.

  • Internships - are they out there, and if so, how do I get one?

Please join us at 9:00 AM for coffee and networking, followed by our panels!  The event should end by approximately 1:00 PM.
